Description

DCB is recruiting a Human Resources Coordinator to join our HR team, manage and execute  the daily functions of the Human Resources (HR) department including interviewing staff, administering pay, benefits, and leave, and enforcing company policies and practices, staff on-boarding and off-boarding. Incumbent will work with the HR Director and other school leadership to address employee needs and address personnel matters. The Human Resources Coordinator is results-driven, organized,  service oriented, diversity and equity focused, customer friendly and committed to the DC Bilingual mission. Incumbents will promote inclusion and dedication to the school environment.

 

All staff members are expected to work collaboratively within our professional learning community (PLC).

 

 

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Support benefits administration, including open enrollment, change reporting, COBRA, reviewing invoices for accuracy, and serving as the primary interface with school staff on basic benefits and leave related inquiries
  • Reviews, tracks, and documents compliance with mandatory and non-mandatory training, continuing education, and work assessments. This may include safety training, anti-harassment training, professional licensure, and aptitude exams and certifications.
  • Conducts or acquires background checks and employee eligibility verifications.
  • Handles employment-related inquiries from applicants, employees, and supervisors, referring complex and/or sensitive matters to the appropriate staff.
  • Coordinate and manage employee payroll and benefits, including all related ad hoc and annual changes
  • Execute Sponsorship processing for candidates seeking employment visa status.
  • Update and maintain job descriptions for all organization positions. 
  • Oversee and execute a comprehensive onboarding process, including collection of employee paperwork and assisting with all aspects of HRIS system usage amongst staff. 
  • Manage and complete process of staff offers
  • Support HR Director with execution of comprehensive offboarding process, including exit interviews
  • Communicate and enforce HR policies, practices and procedures 
  • Support HR Director and other school leaders on performance management and disciplinary matters, including conducting investigations as necessary
  • Provides support and guidance to  management, and other staff when complex, specialized, and sensitive questions and issues arise; may be required to administer and execute routine tasks in delicate circumstances such as providing reasonable accommodations, investigating allegations of wrongdoing, and terminations.
  • Supports the talent acquisition process, collecting resumes and conducting phone interviews of qualified job applicants, particularly for instructional and non instructional part-time and full time professional roles; collaborates with department managers to understand skills and competencies required for openings.
  • Attends and participates in employee disciplinary meetings, terminations, and investigations.
  • Maintains compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommended best practices; reviews policies and practices to maintain compliance.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor’s degree (preferred), preferably in a Human Resources or related field
  • Two or more years of relevant human resources experience (preferred)
  • Charter school or school district experience (preferred)
  • Bilingual strongly preferred but not required (Spanish/English)
  • Willingness to participate and perform in language based training. 
  • Ability to work with students and families from diverse backgrounds       
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  •  Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills.
  •  Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  •  Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  •  Ability to prioritize tasks and to delegate them when appropriate.
  • Ability to act with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality.
  • Thorough knowledge of employment-related laws and regulations.
