DC Bilingual is recruiting a Part Time - After School Hive Program Teacher for the 2022-2023 School Year. DCB is seeking motivated staff that are committed to the school’s mission and will bring professionalism, urgency, and dedication to the school environment.
All staff are expected to work collaboratively within our professional learning community (PLC).
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
- Complete and submit all lesson plans for classroom activities in a timely manner
- Execute all curricula with high energy and positivity, and in a manner which actively engages all students
- Build relationships with each child by welcoming children each day, engaging in conversations, responding to their needs, and always ensuring student safety
- Assist with the guidance of children’s learning by talking about their work, providing additional information to extend their learning, and asking open-ended questions
- Be flexible with all areas of the job
- Model a consistent philosophical and caring approach to working with children
- Communicate with parents on student progress on a weekly basis
- Input daily attendance and snack counts, and set-up classrooms as needed
- Demonstrate competence in working with diverse populations and a respect for different points-of-view
- Maintain open communication lines between your co-teacher and DCB staff
- Facilitate project-based learning in age-appropriate ways on Fridays
- Collaborate with the Hive program partners in all areas of support and provide support to the Hive program leadership team as needed
- Attend all scheduled professional development
- Participate and contribute to the development of the program through regular attendance in team meetings, conferences and staff development retreats
- Adhere to the No Nonsense Nurture expectations for managing student relations and behaviors
- Meet all expectations as outlined by the DC Bilingual Leading and Learning Framework
- Abide by the DC Bilingual 7 Agreements
- Demonstrate dedication to the Professional Learning Community (PLC) by supporting school-wide initiatives and programs
- Other duties as assigned
REQUIREMENTS
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Two or more years of experience (preferably in an urban or culturally diverse setting)
- Belief that every child can learn and reach high levels of academic achievement and that every child has a right to a quality education
- Belief that each member of the school community (including students, families, teachers and staff) is a valuable contributor and an integral part of students’ success
- Strong commitment to children’s learning and continued social development
- Strong commitment to continuous improvement and professional development
- Effective communication skills with children and adults
- Ability to work cooperatively and collaboratively with co-workers
- Bilingual preferred but not required (Spanish/English)
- Demonstrated ability to work with students and families from diverse backgrounds
SUPERVISORY REQUIREMENTS
This position has supervisory responsibilities.
